Accounting: Business
A Bachelor's degree in Business/Accounting is considered to be one of the most standard business degrees available. Accounting is the language of business. Learning this language will garner you a better understanding of how businesses work on the financial level. Your coursework will focus most heavily on learning the ins and outs of the science of accounting. You will become quite familiar with balance sheets and other financial statements, as well as the regulations regarding such calculations. Supplementing these studies will be classes touching on other relevant business topics, such as business communication and the basics of investing and the stock market. You will encounter a good amount of math, statistics and numbers in this major, and will learn to think both logically and creatively. This is a very homework intensive major – many hours of problem solving lie ahead of you.

This major will prepare you for:

Anyone interested in business cannot go wrong with a degree in accounting. Such a degree demonstrates that you have attained a significant level of proficiency in understanding the business arena. Job/careers that become available to you include:

Starting your own business (this is the ideal major for anyone wishing to start their own business)
Accountin g for any number of institutions (accounting firms, almost any business, the government, etc.)
Per sonal financial advising
Working for a private tax practice

A number of opportunities to further your education are also available. You could pursue a master's in a number of business disciplines, go to law school, or get a Ph.D. and teach at the collegiate level or conduct research.
